Karnataka has reported 816 new Covid-19 cases and no deaths in the past 24 hours. Among the new cases, urban Bengaluru reported 776 infections. There are a total of 5,180 active cases in the state.

The Indian Bank branch manager at Hanumanthanagar in Bengaluru was recently arrested for allegedly embezzling Rs 5.7 crore to his girlfriend whom he met on a dating app. A complaint was filed by the area manager of Indian Bank against the accused, Hari Shankar, and the court sent him into custody for 10 days.

The controversy over the ownership of the Idgah Maidan was finally settled with Chief Commissioner of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Tushar Girinath stating that the civic body does not own the land. However, some right-wing activists are unhappy with the statement and Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said he would discuss the issue with BBMP officials.
