Last Saturday, around 200 people gathered at Temple Terrace to protest the ongoing apartheid in Palestine.

The rally took place at the corner of Fowler Avenue and 56th Street from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., where Palestinians and their supporters called for justice in Palestine, with some counter-protesters claiming that Palestinians are demanding human rights. man are anti-Semitic.

Tampa Bay Creative Loafing photographer Dave Decker was there to document Palestinian protesters marching around the intersection, waving flags and signs reading ‘end the occupation’ and ‘Zionism is a settler colonial movement white”.

The United Nations and just about everyone except the United States and Israel agree that what is happening in Palestine is apartheid and violates international law, including the militant group Jewish Voice for Peace. The Center for Constitutional Rights go furthercalling it genocide.

Nonetheless, a handful of counter-protesters showed up, including Christine Quinn and Forgatio Blow. Quinn is a twice unsuccessful congressional candidate and the founder of Clearwater-based My Family’s Seasonings. She recently protested Disney Wold along with a host of other right-wingers, including anti-Muslim CD-11 zealot Laura Loomer and State Representative Anthony Sabatini, who, in addition wear a black facenow works for CD-7.

Blow an AutoTrader heir and a rapper turned MAGA icon. VICE recently wrote that many of his songs “celebrate the most gruesome aspects of capitalism, perpetuate harmful stereotypes about the LGBTQ community, and glorify violence…”

Blow, Quinn and the other counter-protesters tried to claim that being against the genocide of Palestinians is somehow anti-Semitic. But even Jewish scholars oppose this viewwarning people like Quinn and Forgatio that they are playing into a myth by claiming that anti-Zionism is the same as anti-Semitism.

“Anti-Zionism is not inherently anti-Semitic — nor is it to claim that it uses Jewish suffering to erase the Palestinian experience,” wrote Peter Beinart, professor and editor of Jewish Currents magazine.

Last week, thousands of Israeli settlers marched into Palestinian territory, resulting in injuries and mass arrests of Palestinians by Israeli military police. This incident is just one of many encroachments by settlers in recent months, including on the holy site of Al-Aqsa.
